View MoreExcess fat and wrinkled, drooping skin on the eyelids can make you look constantly tired or sad. Factors such as heredity and sun exposure can accelerate the appearance of aging.
An eyelid lift, also referred to as blepharoplasty, can remove this fat and drooping skin, giving you a brighter, more alert appearance.
An eyelid lift can also be used to eliminate bags under your eyes to give you a healthier, more rested appearance.
Excess skin is removed from the upper eyelid through a small incision along the natural crease of your eyelid. Lower lid skin and fat may be removed with a small incision just under the lashes, or the fat only may be removed through an incision just inside the lower lid, leaving an invisible scar.
Eyelid surgery is an outpatient procedure that can be performed under a general or local anesthetic. Although there is very little discomfort after eyelid surgery, the degree of swelling and bruising varies widely from patient to patient and depends on the technique used. The recovery time for eyelid surgery can be from three to ten days.
